HATS!

So far this week I've made 3 hats. And it's Wednesday.

First was a beret, then a beanie, and today, Lyra's hat from Golden Compass.

Tomorrow I'm making a balaclava for my brother.

Pics soon, I promise

holycrapit'sdone

That's right, it's done! The scarf is done! You know, the one I started in July, that I finally posted the pattern for and made to match the hat that is going to get ripped apart and remade because I want to do it in the round and used every last bit of yarn in the matching dye lot for the scarf and Andie's xmas present?
(which looks like this)

IT'S DONE!

I spent the past 4 days watching two years worth of vlogbrothers videos on YouTube, and I now have an (almost) 6 foot long scarf. And I wish it was longer, but I think I have somewhere along the lines of 3 yards of yarn left, which I could squeeze a row or two more out of, if it wasn't divided into 4 different pieces. And I want it to be like 3 feet longer... I really really like long scarves

Anyway, BEHOLD!

Happy New Year!

Uhh, ok, so I'm not the BEST blogger in the world...

I have no pics for you today because, well, I haven't worked on anything but xmas presents in 3 months, but now that that's over, I have a new year's resolution.

I'm going to post SOMETHING here every week, 3 times a week. I've even written myself a little note.

I've written up the pattern for my scarf, and I'll post it as soon as my camera battery is revived. It's currently in the process of terminal to terminal resuscitation.

I've also been working on my book for the past few days, which has gotten in the way of... everything I've been trying to do. And then there's the video games and classes... But I finished Assasain's Creed 2, and I only have 4 classes, and I'm thinking about taking the bus that takes the long way around campus so I can start knitting on the bus, though it terrifies me to knit in public. I have no idea why.

Ok, so, next post will be the scarf pattern that matches The Most Beautiful Hat In The World.

Oops

Ok, so, it's been a while. Sue me, I've been a little busy!

I moved into my dorm, and I've been going to classes, and on the weekends and evenings when I don't have homework (more often than you'd expect!), I work on projects! What have I been up to lately?

Well, I finished Jon's dragon

Then I went to Hobby Lobby and bought really pretty yarn and started the Quintessential Fall Scarf

I wanted it done by today, but I was busy making this heart

And a Cthulhu for the un-nephew, who is still absolutely adorable and I can't wait to see him next weekend.

The scarf to match the hat

Here's the scarf I've been working on. Beautiful, right? Enjoy it now, I'm going to frog it tonight. I don’t know how I JUST noticed this, but…
alt text

It’s not symmetrical… it kinda makes me die a little. There’s two columns of stitches on the right hand side because I was going for a 2x2 rib look, but that just didn’t work out on the left.

Do I frog, remove those two stitches from the pattern and start over?
Or do I just continue with making it and leave the pattern the way it is?
Or do I finish the scarf and just change the pattern and hope no one notices?

Coupon Day

Yesterday was the first day of the 40% coupons that I had for Michaels. Naturally, I went because I had 3. I spent an hour picking out yarn, a few minutes picking out accessories, and another hour picking out a book.

I then decided that $4 yarn (two more of the yummy, yummy purple) was a waste of a coupon, so I just wanted the book and the $7 row counter (but I still bought the yarn). This is when I found out that Michaels doesn't accept coupons for books. Down to one coupon-worthy item and two balls of yarn, I angrily paid and left. Bookless.

Oh well.

I'm still trying to find the perfect pattern for the shawl that I'm looking to make for my friend Andie for xmas, and I'm still hunting for the perfect yarn for mom's hat/scarf/mittens for xmas, and that hunt doesn't seem as though it's going to end any time soon.

In other, wonderful news, mom wants to start knitting again. Yay!
